From the southbound I-5, take exit 145A for Western Ave. Follow signs for Western Ave/LA Zoo. Merge onto Western Ave. Turn left on S. Victory Blvd. Use right two lanes to merge onto Riverside Dr. Turn left onto Zoo Dr. Turn right onto Griffith Park Dr. Continue straight onto Mineral Wells Rd. Park at Mineral Wells Picnic Area.
From the northbound I-5, take exit 141B. Turn right onto Crystal Springs Dr. Turn left onto Griffith Park Dr. Turn left onto Mineral Wells Rd. Park at Mineral Wells Picnic Area.
Basic Hike: See Mineral Wells Map. Follow the sign for the North Trail. In 0.5 mile you will reach Amir's Garden. Spend some time exploring this beauty spot and reading about Amir. Continue on the North Trail uphill 1.2 miles and 1,000 ft. to a paved road, Vista del Valle Dr. Turn left on Vista del Valle Dr. Follow the road down to the Bill Eckert Trail just past water tank 113 and turn left. Do not miss this turn otherwise you will increase your distance by several miles. Follow the Bill Eckert Trail downhill and turn left onto the Mineral Wells Trail. Follow this trail back to the Mineral Wells Pcnic Area.
Option 1: From the intersection of the North Trail and Vista del Valle Dr. follow the signs and the map to Mt. Chapel.
Option 2: From the intersection of the North Trail and Vista del Valle Dr. follow the signs and the map to Mt. Bell. Alternatively, follow trails from Mt. Chapel.
Option 3: Instead of turning left onto the Bill Eckert trail, continue a short distance further along Vista del Valle Dr. and turn left towards Bee Rock. After visiting Bee Rock, turn right onto the Bee Rock Trail. This trail is steep and treacherous. Turn left onto the Mineral Wells Trail.
